Community Involvement:
A real estate consultant with the HomeSource Realty, Inc., Mary Love works with a diverse clientele of buyers, sellers, investors, and developers. Leveraging more than two decades of experience as an environmental specialist, Mary helps builders plan and build environmentally conscious developments and infield projects, markets eco communities, and works with environmentally savvy and chemically sensitive individuals to find the right homes for their needs. “I love what I do. I enjoy helping clients find a home that meets their unique needs,” says Mary, “and my work with the Gleason Team enables me to share the benefits of healthy building with my clients.”
Mary also works with a wide range of investors, seeking to rehab and turn properties, build rental income, or purchase second homes. “One of the things I offer my investor clients is “first-look” privileges at properties,” says Mary. “I’ve sold properties that have never reached the MLS database because of my relationships with sellers.”
An eco leader and advocate, Mary worked as a project manager with the WNC Green Building Council, a nonprofit eco building educational alliance, before joining the Gleason Team. In that capacity, she was instrumental in helping Mountain Housing Opportunities site and develop Prospect Terrace, an infield community for people of
limited resources. One of only three certified “Eco Agents” in the nation, Mary is working with the Asheville Board of REALTORS® to design and implement an Environmental Consultant course that will educate local agents on environmental and sustainable development issues.
Mary measures her success by how well she’s able to meet her client needs. Recently, that philosophy took an especially meaningful turn when she helped a couple from New Orleans purchase a fully furnished home. “Here was a couple who’d lost everything with Hurricane Katrina, and I was able to help them find a home where they could feel good about starting over.”
A former big city dweller who grew up in a Tennessee town of 200 residents, Mary finds the best of both worlds in Asheville. She lives with her partner in an investment property, a duplex she selected both for its rental potential and its great mountain views. Her partner runs a natural health and wellness business from the home. Mary holds a master’s degree in environmental science and supervisor administration and is currently pursuing Accredited Land Consultant (ACL) certification.
